The Koscove tradition of recycling began when Issac Koscove started recycling glass, tires, and used rags in 1917. His sons, Morris Koscove, and Sol Koscove, began recycling metal and selling auto parts in downtown Colorado Springs in the mid 1930s. This tradition has continued in the family as Koscove Metal is a fourth-generation recycling business.
Joe Koscove became the sole owner in 2003. During his time as owner Joe has sought to expand entrepreneurially and not just in the profit sense. He volunteers himself to the Colorado Springs Police Department on cases involving metals, to testify as an expert witness in court or to help detectives working on cases involving metal theft. However, Joe is most proud of his involvement with charitable causes. His passion to help people motivates him to work hard all the time. Joe has said, “I want to do whatever I can as a man and a human being to help our planet and the human race.”
Koscove Metal has grown to be much more than the scrap metal recycling company it is today. The employees and customers are like family. Our company motto is “Honest Business equals better business.” We not only want to save the planet one aluminum can at a time, but more importantly we as a business want to give people the most competitive and fair price we can while helping the planet and supporting the community.
1917- Koscove recycling was founded by recycling glass, tires, and used rags.
1920 - 1960- Koscove started recycling ALL metal products. We started to push EVERY company towards recycling knowing it was the way to a greener future.
1960 - late 1970's- Koscove was one of very few companies to be invited to recycle on many military bases in Colorado including NORAD.
Early 1980's- late 1990's- Koscove started the recycling program for Digital, Air Force Academy and all associated businesses.
Early 2000 - 2012- Koscove Metal branched into cardboard, papers, plastics, E-waste, and much more. Through the years, we have helped thousands of businesses with their own green programs. We started running recycling projects all across the country. We have taken part in rebuild to restricted area power upgrades on military bases, we have handled all the logistics and recycling.
Late 2012-2020- Koscove has been able to recognize, through the many years, the lack of real recycling from most companies. Not because they do not have the desire, but from the lack of help from recycling yards or the absence of resources available to start such recycling programs. WE ARE RECYCLING DRIVEN. We will help with ALL of your recycling programs.
2021- Current- Koscove Metal has continued to grow to offer the best recycling available. We have opened our new large commercial yard at 506 W. Cucharras (just down the street from our main location). We also have expanded pour roll-off containers and processing locations.
We will turn your recycling PROBLEM into a recycling PROGRAM.
